British design has never been harder to define. Is it a traditional sofa manufactured in Long Eaton, a table thought up by a company in High Wycombe but with a plant in Lithuania, or is it even an uber-trendy abstract piece created by one of Britain’s celebrity designers but rolling off a smart production line in Milan?
Over the past decade British design, and not least furniture, has developed an international reputation. Many thousands of people, all over the UK, currently study art and design. This pool of potential talent is nurtured by many organisations, including – from graduation stage - Design-Nation.
