19/11/2008 Jay-Be administration update
Dewsbury-based bed manufacturer Jay-Be has been placed into administration.
Robert Adamson from the corporate recovery department at the Leeds office of accountants Mazars has been appointed administrator.
Established in 1968, Jay Be employs 123 staff and sells its products to retailers across the UK and Ireland.
A spokesperson for Jay-Be said: “Despite efforts by the directors to restructure and consolidate the business, losses have been incurred as a result of challenging conditions in the retail market.
“The extent of these losses has left us with no real alternative other than to appoint administrators.”
Robert Adamson, partner at Mazars said: “Jay-Be has gained an excellent and long-established reputation as a manufacturer of high quality products. We are currently implementing a programme of cost reductions for the business, with the intention of selling the company as a going concern.”
