Beds and bedroom furniture deliver strong week for John Lewis as Father’s Day boosted sales.

According to the latest weekly sales figures to 18 June 2016, John Lewis reported a sales rise of 4.2% to £79.2m, with its Home sector achieving another ‘steady’ week – particularly driven by beds and bedroom furniture, which was up by almost 20%.

Total sales within Home grew by 3.7%, as furniture and home accessories contributed with a combined 14.1% uptick.

Ed Connolly, director, Fashion at John Lewis, said: “Total sales this week were £79.2m, +4.2% on last year. Father’s Day gave sales a boost this week, but the wet weather had the reverse effect on some product areas.

Home had a steady week, +3.7% on last year. Home Accessories & Gifts were +7.0% on last year with Father’s Day gifts and pop-up areas in shops providing a positive uplift. Furniture also had a good week, +7.1% with Beds and Bedroom Furniture +19.9% on last year.”
