Multichannel retailer John Lewis has reported a good growth in beds and bedroom furniture, despite the week experiencing a small decline in sales.
According to the latest weekly sales figures to 28 May, total sales were 1.6% down to £80.7m year-on-year, with both the Bnak Holiday and half term holiday having an adverse impact.
Mark Blundell, head of retail development, John Lewis, said: “Sales comparisons to last year are distorted as the same week last year included both the Bank Holiday and half term holiday.
“Sales in Home were -2.4% on last year, although beds and bedroom saw a +4.1% uplift. This week also saw the launch of our rooftop garden at John Lewis Oxford Street with visitors enjoying the Bank Holiday sunshine over the weekend.”
