Multi-channel retail chain John Lewis has reported a strong week as its newly launched ‘Design Project’ pays dividends.
According to its latest weekly sales figures to 10 September 2016, total sales were up 9.1% at £82.7m, with all category sectors of the business delivering a positive week.
Within the categories, Home benefited from John Lewis’ new home range, which is completely designed in-house, contributing to the overall uptick of 5.2%.
Furniture also supported the growth in revenue, as sales rose by 12.8% as warmer weather continued to ‘influence’ performance, which resulted in high-tog duvets selling at a lower rate than last year.
Other sectors performed strongly, with sales in fashion up by 6.8% and electrical and home technology sales also up by 15.8%, as both categories benefited from the start of the new term.
