Luxury furnishing fabrics supplier GP & J Baker has reported a growth in turnover for a second successive year, while growing pre-tax profits for fourth straight year.

According to Poole-based businesses latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2015, total sales rose by 5.2% to £18.3m from £17.4m in 2014, with gross profit also increasing by 3.8% to £8m from £7.7m over the same period.

Operating profit showed positive growth of 0.6% to £608,435, with pre-tax profit up for a fourth consecutive year by 0.4% to £607,456.

The company, which has been established since 1884, has recently launched its new destination showroom in Chelsea Harbour back in March 2016, and features all of the businesses brands including GP & J Baker, Mulberry Home, Kravet, Threads, Baker Lifestyle, Brunschwig & Fils and lee Jofa.

Commenting within the strategic report, the company said: “Sales have performed well in domestic markets and the USA. Award-winning new collections launched in 2014 provided an excellent platform for growth.

“Despite the continued challenging economic outlook the company has performed well and sales growth has been pleasing. We look forward to a satisfactory year in 2016.”
