Bespoke furniture manufacturer Robin Stagg has confirmed he has decided to retire after 48 years in the business.
Robin Stagg first launched the Rayleigh-based furniture shop in 1968, where he grew the company from a small workshop to a large showroom in Rawreth, employing 12 people.
After 48 years in the trade, Robin has decided to call time hung up his tools on 30 June 2016 for the very last time.
Commenting on its official Facebook page, a spokesperson for Robin Stagg Furniture said: “The time has now come for him to retire, to hang up his apron, glue stick, dowels, and scissors and have a well-earned rest. Anyone who knows him, will know he will not sit still, he will not have idle hands and most definitely be far busier at home now than he has ever been.
“I would like to publicly wish him well. They wanted to exit quietly with no fuss.”
A previous customer also posted: “Never thought this day would come! I’ve still got my lovely suite you made me back in May 1997 and still love it like the day your delivered it to me. I would like to wish you a very happy retirement.”
