Online office supplier Jenkinsons has revealed a rise in turnover as furniture sales drive growth after securing ‘large’ contract.

According to its latest accounts for the year ended 31 December 2015, furniture sales increased by 24%, mainly due to its contract to supply furniture for the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, representing £1.5m of sales.

On a total basis, the company saw revenues rise by 13% to £12.4m from £11m in 2014 – the company’s highest turnover for six years, and its second successive increase.

Gross profit also experienced an uptick by 12.1% to £3.7m from £3.3m, while overall profit for the year under review rose by 31.4% to £188,244.

Commenting within the report, Jeninksons, said: “Our expansion into the Midlands continues to be successful and we believe in 2016/17 this area will contribute significantly to our sales.

“We are optimistic and confident about sales and profitability of the company in 2016 and beyond.”
