Furniture retailer Furniture Village has announced the launch of its new website as part of a £1m investment to enrich the digital and instore experience to meet its ongoing growth objectives.

Known as the UK’s largest independent retailer of its type, Furniture Village said that its ‘next generation website’, which took 16 weeks to build, improves the customer experience by delivering a fast, responsive, contemporary design across mobile, tablet and desktop.

Other features that the new site,, offers are its integrations with retail solutions including Amplience, Feefo reviews and Live Chat remove many of the complexities of purchasing quality furniture online.

To support its multichannel growth strategy, Furniture Village selected the Demandware Commerce Cloud for its unified commerce platform and Greenlight Commerce as the systems integrator.

Georgina Stoaling, director of ecommerce, said: “With recent research highlighting that more than 40% of shoppers would purchase a major furniture item online and knowing that the majority of big-ticket transactions involve some element of online interaction, it was essential that we re-platformed, in order to deliver an improved experience and achieve our online growth targets

“We chose Greenlight Commerce for their understanding of what we were trying to achieve in our market, coupled with their knowledge of what is required to launch a Demandware platform within a tight timeframe and to budget.”

Kevin Murray, managing director at Greenlight Commerce, added: “Our team drew on its deep understanding of retail and focus on growth to design and implement a next generation commerce solution. We are confident that this new site will deliver a premium customer experience across all digital touch points to drive sales.”

Furniture Village has also confirmed to Cabinet Maker the appointment of its new head of buying operations, Jim Orr.

Prior to his appointment, Jim was head of private label at Achica, and buying controller for Dreams. Jim officially joined Furniture Village earlier this year in May 2016.

Commenting on his appointment, Jim said: “I have joined a fantastic team at Furniture Village during a period of expansion, and am in the process of implementing a series of initiatives which will streamline buying processes and further increase efficiency across the company.”
