Failsworth-based independent home furnishing retailer Housing Units has seen both turnover and profit rise for a seventh consecutive year.
According to its latest filed accounts for the 52 weeks ended 27 March 2016, total sales swelled by 7.9% to £24.5m from £22.7m in 2015. Gross profit also experienced a growth of 7.7% to £11.1m from £10.3m, whilst operating profit grew 33.3% to £1.6m from £1.2m.
Housing Units, which is fast approaching its 70 year milestone, posted a pre-tax profit of £1.9m, 26.6% up from £1.5m recorded last year.
The company stated within its report that continued investment in both business infrastructure and recruitment, as well as exploring new opportunities to grow, the directors expect that ‘trading activity’ will ‘remain consistent’ despite the economic uncertainty around Brexit.
Housing Units recently confirmed the appointment of two new directors, Stewart Smith as retail director and Alison Hartley as multi-channel director. (See related.)
