A new pop-up furniture shop has opened in Walthamstow after seeing success through online trading.

The Mid Century Room, launched by BBC Radio 1 newsreader Kat Collins, solely trade its retro and vintage furniture on eBay, but has now opened its doors to a new shop at Froth and Rind café in Orford Road.

Featuring a variety of classic furniture from periods including the 50s, 60s and 70s, Mid Century Room will be open until 14 August 2016 as the business trials a physical presence.

The founder of Mid Century Room revealed that the business began life as a hobby and now plans to take it to the next level with the pop-up shop, which officially opened on 9 July.

Commenting on its official Facebook page, the company said: “The shop is all ready to open at Froth and Rind for six weeks. We are Walthamstow-based mid century obsessives, looking to turn a hobby into a something a little bit more. Please do pop along and thank you for your support.”
