Devon-based independent furniture business Newtons Furniture has been selected as the latest Theo Paphitis ‘Small Business Sunday’ winner.

Former Dragon’s Den star, Theo re-tweeted a tweet from the family firm, who specialise in French bed and bedroom furniture, as part of his ‘SBS’ weekly imitative, launched back in 2010, to promote small businesses.

Since the re-tweet, Newtons has seen an influx of over 1,000 new followers and has gained extra orders through the recognition.

Rachel Edmonds, Newtons Furniure owner, spoke to local press on the achievement: “I'm thrilled that Newtons has been chosen as an SBS winner. It is great to have support from Theo because it's tough trying to raise the profile and awareness of South West based businesses and Theo has recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do to his following.”

Theo Paphitis, small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue chairman, added: "We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.”

For a chance to get a re-tweet from Theo, a tweet should be sent about your business on Sunday between 5-7:30pm, with six businesses chosen as winners every Monday evening.
