Family furniture business Sargents Furnishings has announced it plans to close this month after more than 60 years in the trade.
Kirton-in-Lindsey-based Sargents Furnishings, which was founded by June and her late husband Andy Sergant back in 1955, is set to close on 26 May 2016, with owner June planning her retirement.
The shop, based on Sargents Market Place, has already begun is closing down sale with a banner stating ‘Everything must go’, with the company confirming that all existing orders will be honoured.
June Sargent spoke to local press The Scunthorpe Telegraph on her retirement: “The decision to close the business has been a difficult one to make, however it is the right decision.
“My retirement will offer someone else a unique opportunity to own and manage premises in this bustling market town. After working long hours for many years in the challenging world of retail I am looking forward to spending time with my wonderful family.
"We would like to thank all our customers for their support over many years. It has been our privilege to serve you."
