Mirfield-based bedding specialist, John Cotton Group, has announced it has raised more than £30,000 for charity.
The company celebrated the milestone at its centenary gala dinner, which took place on 9 June 2016 at the Rudding Park Hotel in Follifoot, and was hosted by a-list celebrity comedian Jimmy Carr.
John Cotton attended the event with his wife, as well as 250 people, and gave a moving speech to mark 100 years in business.
John said: “In a world where the average lifespan of a company is just 15 years, it’s a huge achievement for us to be celebrating this milestone. I know very well that we wouldn’t have made it to 100 years without the hard work and dedication of each and every one of our suppliers and valued customers.
“We also owe a lot to the local community and this year is about us giving something back to those who have played such an integral part in our history. We have set a target of raising £100,000 for local charities with a number of exciting events and fundraising activities taking place throughout the year to help us reach the total.”
In aid of this, guests were invited to enter into a charity raffle, silent auction and regular auction, with all proceeds raised going towards the £100,000 target for the company’s chosen charities across the centenary year.
Mark Cotton, Group managing director, added: “We’re very grateful to everyone who came and took part in the raffle and auctions. In total, we raised £33,200, which will contribute towards the £100k target set and we are already looking forward to our next fundraising event.”
