Kitchen, bedroom and furniture retailer John Lewis of Hungerford has confirmed that it will close its showrooms in Harrogate and Tunbridge Wells, following a review of its trading estate.

Both showrooms are expected to close by the end of 2016, with a cost of around £100,000. The decision was made after both stores contributed sales of around £370,000 combined in the last full year.

The Tunbridge Wells store has seen revenues slip below average sales performance, whilst Harrogate’s sales do not warrant the costs associated with supporting the premises.

John Lewis of Hungerford currently trades through 16 locations across the UK. However, when the closures come into effect, it will allow the company to focus on its main store estate in the South of England.
