Berkshire-based luxury fabric specialist Kobe has announced that it has sponsored the upholstery and soft furnishings student awards at the Wendy Shorter Interiors training centre in St. Albans, Hertfordshire, for the sixth year running.

The awards saw students get the chance to showcase their designs across three different competitions, with the winners confirmed as Marie Titchener and Natalie McCurry – who won in the essential soft furnishings category, whilst Rachel Winder and Harriet Page won the stage three traditional upholstery prize.

All four students were awarded £350 worth of either Kobe or Essente samples towards their future business start-ups.

Other winners included Hayley Milner and Rosie Taylor who won the stage two intermediate upholstery competition.

David Harris, managing director of Kobe UK, said: “I would like to congratulate all the students at the training centre and am pleased to be able to recognise all their hard work and commitment shown to their craft.

“Wendy Shorter Interiors is recognised as the UK’s leading independent school for upholstery and soft furnishings. It’s a pleasure to support Wendy and her team and I would like to thank them for their dedication and for passing on their invaluable skills and enthusiasm.”
