The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has announced that it has agreed a partnership with the University of South Wales to develop a range of specialist lighting courses.

Various courses will be delivered at the new LIA Academy facility in Telford, with students also given special access to the LIA Laboratory, which is the UK’s largest independent test laboratory dedicated to lighting.

Steve Davies, LIA CEO, said: “We are delighted to have signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of South Wales. Our partnership is part of a drive by the LIA Academy to improve and co-ordinate training and development opportunities for lighting professionals throughout the UK.”

Stuart Green, course leader of Lighting and Design Technology at USW, said: “The LIA and USW are both leaders in the field of lighting design and technology. Our partnership provides us with new opportunities for collaboration in both teaching and learning, effectively creating an environment of improved knowledge that will benefit both organisations and the wider industry.”
