North East-based furniture manufacturer Godfrey Syrett has announced the launch of its new showroom.
Situated at its Langley Moor site in Durham, the new showroom will feature its new range of accommodation furniture ‘Work, Rest & Play’.
The move behind the investment sees the company cater for ‘rapidly expanding student accommodation market’, with the firm already securing contracts worth over £2m for the sector.
David Hall, group sales director at Godfrey Syrett said: “We are delighted to have secured our first contracts for the new accommodation range, which include a £1.46m contract with Balfour Beatty for a development in Glasgow and a £600,000 contract with Edinburgh University.
“We are also in discussions with a number of developers regarding emerging student accommodation schemes near our headquarters in the North East and anticipate further contracts will follow soon.”
Godfrey Syrett, which employs 230 staff across three sites in the North East, opened a furniture showroom and a conference & training facility, Hub47, at its Newcastle base last year. It also announced earlier this year the opening of a new £2m distribution hub at Belmont Industrial Estate in Durham.
