The National Bed Federation (NBF) has issued a statement following Cabinet Maker’s mattress investigation.
The NBF said it will ‘rigorously’ investigate the report, which saw five of its members fail the flammability test undertaken, as well as stating that it takes consumer safety, honesty and regulatory compliance ‘very seriously’.
The NBF said: “We are concerned to see that products from five of our members failed the flammability tests undertaken in the Cabinet Maker investigation.
“We have a process in place to investigate such reports rigorously, with the option of requiring product recalls and possible suspension/expulsion from NBF membership if the evidence supports that course of action. We have put this process into action with immediate effect.”
The NBF has a compulsory Code of Practice, which was introduced in 2013, and is the only one of its kind in the furniture industry.
