Soft furnishing and doors manufacturers Guardian Systems (Scotland) Ltd and associate company Guardian Soft Furnishings Ltd have been place in liquidation with the loss of 44 jobs.

Stirling-based Guardian Systems, which has been established since 1993, was trading strongly at the start of the year with a turnover close to £1.5m, but experienced a fall in orders during the summer leading to major cash flow problems and unsustainable losses.

An associate company, Guardian Soft Furnishings Ltd, which supplied soft furnishings and fabrics to retail and commercial clients, has also been placed in liquidation, leading to the loss of 17 jobs, with Guardian Systems accounting for the loss of the other 27 jobs.

Derek Forsyth, head of restructuring and insolvency at Campbell Dallas said: “Guardian Systems (Scotland) and Guardian Soft Furnishings were well-known in their markets, and had good quality clients.

“It is unfortunate that a number of factors created significant problems that ultimately caused both businesses to be placed in liquidation. We are marketing assets for sale and would encourage interested parties to make contact with us as soon as possible.”

Campbell Dallas said that it would provide every possible support to the employees affected by the closure.
