The owner of bed and mattress retailer Mattressman has expanded his portfolio by launching a new store in Lowestoft under the name Kerrys Home Furnishing.

The store, which officially opened earlier this year, is located in the former Godfreys of Lowestoft department premises on Suffolk Road and features a full kitchen and flooring sectors, as well as offering a variety of furniture for the bedroom, living and dining room.

Mattressman owner, Andrew Kerry saw the location as a prime position and as a great opportunity to revive the building. Mattressman has also taken up a position within the store, which is trading ‘very successfully’.

Kerrys Home Furnishings said that its store is still under redevelopment works on its top floor, which will eventually feature more furniture and the reopening of the local café.

Commenting on the latest venture, Andrew Kerry said: “We hope that Kerrys becomes a big part of the local community, building on the legacy of Godfreys as one of the areas go to ‘destination stores’.”

Andrew also confirmed that Mattressman is planning to open ‘at least three new stores’ before the end of the year, following the company being named in the top five ‘best places to buy a mattress’ in a recent customer survey that was featured by Which? in August.

Norfolk-based Mattressman has been established since 2004 and has 18 stores across the UK.
