Upholstered furniture retail chain Multiyork posted a rise in turnover of 9.6% to £47.7m from £43.5m in its latest filed accounts for the 52 weeks ended 27 September 2015.

Multiyork, part of Wade Group Limited, also experienced an uptick of 13.7% in gross profit to £26.4m from £23.2m last year, while narrowing its operating loss to £1.4m from £1.9m.

An overall loss for the period under review resulted in £714,000, significantly down from its loss of £2m in 2014.

The Coalville headquartered business, which has over 50 stores nationwide, revealed that sales within the UK and Europe both grew by 9.6% and 22.3% respectively, with the UK maintaining to be its stand out market, while sales across the rest of the world slightly fell by 19.3%.

Multiyork said within the report that it had increased market spend on brand awareness and web channel developments, which contributed to the increase in sales, and in turn resulted in reduced losses.
