Furniture firm Wren Living could potentially create 50 new jobs after plans were submitted to open a new shop in Merry Hill.

According to the Express & Star, Dudley Council revealed a planning application has been submitted for the former Staples premises, which has been vacant since 2013. A spokesman for North Lincolnshire based Wren Living said it was too early to comment on the proposals but more details are expected to be released at a later date.

Tim Rainbard, an agent from planning consultant Quod, said in the application: “Significantly, up to 50 full and part-time jobs will be created if they do occupy the unit. Local investment will also arise from the external works and store fit outs.”

Wren Living, which specialises in the manufacture of kitchens, bathrooms and living furniture, has 52 stores across the UK and has been established for over 35 years.
