A new online mattress start-up has launched in the UK with plans to generate sales of up to 800 units over the next year.
The ‘Zing’ mattress, which is being manufactured at the renowned bed maker Breasley’s facility in Ilkeston, officially launched back in May 2016 and has seen a positive reaction from the market, estimated to be worth over £700m per year.
Fesel Nazir, operations director for Zing, said that raising £250,000 through an early investor, with the remaining finance being placed by its senior management team, funded the launch. Fesel revealed that sales are ‘moving upwards’ while web traffic is growing on a daily basis.
Fesel told Cabinet Maker: “After 10 months of researching the market and finding a mattress manufacturer capable of producing a quality mattress we teamed up with Breasley. Considering we only launched about five weeks ago the "Zing" mattress and brand have been well received with sales moving upwards.”
Zing has big plans for the coming year with targets of achieving 600 to 800 unit sales per month – roughly worth an estimated £3.9m to £5.2m over 12 months, with online being the primary focus.
Fesel explains: “The plan has always been to sell the product online so we don't have any plans to sell through independent high street retailers. The business plan for the next 12 months of trading is to increase sales to around 600 to 800 units per month with most of the revenue being re-invested back into marketing.”
The product itself features a variety of technologies including its Cool-Tech memory foam, developed exclusively for Zing to provide a cooler sleep experience. According to its tests, Zing claim that the top layer remains 6 degrees cooler than its competitors.
