Anti Copying in Design (ACID) has revealed four of its members were part of the 19 Design Guild Mark awards for 2016 winners. Organisers of consumer goods fair Tendence 2016 has revealed a new award concept part of its Home & Trend Award for interior innovations and trend products.

The new addition to this year’s show, which takes place in Frankfurt am Main from 27-30 August 2016, is the Smart Home & Smart Building Award. Organised by LifeCare Initiative, the Home & Trend Awards will be presented during Tendence, with entries called for submission by 24 June 2016, with the award-winning products to be showcased for the whole duration of the fair in a special exhibition space. The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has revealed that former president, Diana Yakeley, has been awarded an OBE - Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire - in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2016, in recognition for services to the interior design profession.

A multi award-winning designer, Diana Yakeley has enjoyed a wide-ranging career, spanning over thirty-five years and embracing interior, garden and furniture design for projects in Britain and internationally.

 

German-based industrial group INDUS has acquired furniture wood edge veneer manufacturer Heitz Group for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is subject to approval by the Federal Cartel Office.

The HEITZ Group produces edge and wrapping veneer made of genuine wood for the furniture and construction industries. As the edge veneer market is an international market, HEITZ currently has an export share of about 70%. In the past fiscal year 2015/16 (ended 31 March 2016), the Group generated sales revenues of approximately €30m.
