A new furniture shop, Furniture Box, has opened in the former King Canute pub in Canvey Island, Essex. The company retails new and old furniture as is currently leasing the premises from development company Novellus. The location on Canvey Road has been vacant for around two years when the old free house closed in May 2014.


Carpet manufacturer Cormar Carpets has confirmed the appointment of Catherine Wall as a director. Catherine officially joined the company, which is part of the Greenwood & Coope Group, earlier this year on 3 February 2016. Catherine is also in directorial roles within Signum Technology, Mobeaus Income & Growth and Bre Group.


Swedish headquartered bed manufacturer Hastens has confirmed the appointments of Roland Baas and Bjorn Kolerud as its new director’s, alongside exisiting director Robert Carlen. Both Roland and Bjorn joined the UK arm on 1 April 2016. Boasting a rich history that dates as far back as 1852, Hastens deals in the trade of luxury beds and mattresses across 22 countries internationally.


Somerset-based lighting supplier The Lighting Company has revealed that the firm has supplied a range of geometric pendant lights for the main living and dining area in Big Brother House for 2016, which will be shown on Channel 5. Commenting on the deal, TLC said: “We are no strangers to supplying TV and Film companies, we have supplied many Hollywood movies filming in the UK. This one is really exciting though as our products will be seen in almost every scene being in the main living area of the house.”


The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) has announced the appointment of Kirstin Shortt as its new support hub assistant. Kirstin will be the first point of call for all enquiries whether by phone, email or via the LIA website.
