Support charity Proskills UK has confirmed that it has ceased trading after 13 years.

Proskills UK Group, a global award winning champion for quality industrial skills development in the both the UK and abroad, decided to call time on the organisation after experiencing a ‘challenging’ environment over the past five years, making it more ‘difficult’ to create the ‘desired level of sustainability’.

Over its 13 year history, which was fully Government funded until 2011, has secured over £260m for a range of industries, including furniture, as well as supporting the development of more than 600,500 learners across the UK.

Proskills UK also established its Schools into Industry programme – MakeIT! for Wood, Timber, Furniture and allied trades. It supported well over 150,000 students from over 2500 schools in gaining an employer-focused insight and helping hand into career and apprenticeship opportunities.

A statement from Proskills UK said: “The staff and board members would like to express their sincere thanks to all who have worked with and supported Proskills UK and its National Skills Academy for Materials, Production and Supply in achieving such fantastic impact across the globe. It certainly has been a blast right to the last!”
