New furniture retail start-up Fabb Projects Limited has confirmed the appointment of Alan Charlton as its new chief operating officer, as well as pumping in further capital from shareholders.

Former Austin Reed executive, Alan Charlton officially joined Fabb on 7 July 2016 and adds to the board already consisting of Lord Kirkham’s son Michael Kirkham, along with previous DFS personnel Scott and Helen Coggan, and Gary Pitchford. Other directors include Laura Chiddey, Julie Cross and Nigel Hardy.

Fabb Projects, which officially registered an EU trademark under the name of Fabb Sofas through representative law firm Kilburn & Strode LLP on 21 June 2016, also confirmed extra capital of £902,562 had been raised as the business moves closer to launch.

The new funds add to the previous cash-injections from shareholders of £2.2m – back in April this year – and its first round of £875,000 back in February.

Fabb recently submitted a planning application to Eastleigh Council for a unit on the Hedge End Retail Park in June, as it plots its first location on Charles Watts Way in Hedge End.
