Visitors to the Bed Show can look forward to a choice of international cuisine in Telford and the surrounding area.

The area around the Telford International Centre is particularly rich in restaurants and bars with food of all genres to suit all palates.

Try the town centre with all its eating choice or the Southwater Leisure Hub has a selection of international and traditional cuisine.

Dragon Den Chinese Buffet is just up the road in the town centre offering Asian cuisine and is open until 11pm.

Indian restaurants aplenty are to be found a little further out than the immediate town centre area and a trawl of Trip Adviser gives a number to choose from in the Wellington and Oakengates areas.

For something traditional, Euston Road Brewer’s Fayre is an English pub close to the train station only five minutes from the International Centre and The Severn Gorge is another English pub and restaurant.

If you’re looking for a familiar experience, there’s a Frankie and Benny’s American Diner, Bella Italia and Pizza Express all in Telford town centre. Italian restaurants Zizzi and Wildwood Kitchen plus Mexican, Chimichanga, are in the Southwater area along with the Coal Bar and Grill, with an American theme.

For wining and dining customers or clients, Merlot’s Restaurant is based at Gray’s Hotel in Telford centre and is a spacious and comfortable restaurant which serves an a la carte menu, table d’hote and a carvery. The NBF Bed Industry Awards

Entering its sixth year, the Bed Industry Awards have become a pinnacle of excellence in the trade and are one of the best ways to highlight business success.

Recognising manufacturers, suppliers and retailers who are leading the way, who will clinch gold at the awards this year?

The categories for 2016 are:

  • · Bed Manufacturer of the Year
  • · Bed Component Supplier of the Year
  • · Bed Retailer of the Year (split into two awards – those with a beds turnover of over £5m and those with a beds turnover of less than £5m)
  • · Judges Choice Award – new this year and will be based on one outstanding element of an entry from one of the above categories

The NBF awards run by Lisa Artis, NBF Bed Awards facilitator, will be judged by a five-strong panel including key trade magazines Interiors Monthly, Cabinet Maker, Furnishing Report and Furniture News, and Bernard Eaton, managing director of Greenwood Retail.

The judges look for trailblazers that have excelled over the past 12 months. The various ways this can be evidenced include innovative marketing campaigns; significant increases in sales; smart initiatives and policies; investment in the company’s future or its staff; and gaining accreditations or awards. The panel look for clear, concise entries with quantifiable supporting material. Here are what some of the judges have to say about the awards

“The increasingly challenging task of judging the winners is made somewhat easier as we remind ourselves of the essential purpose of the awards - that is, to recognise and reward outstanding achievement or excellence in the entrant’s particular field. Entrants who can simply, factually and concisely demonstrate benefits to both the industry and the nation, in terms of prosperity, job creation or technical ingenuity, always stand out.”

-Bernard Eaton, Greenwood Retail

“It’s a privilege to be asked to judge these awards. We are fortunate enough day-to-day to speak with those people who strive to keep the bed industry great. I’m delighted to help reward the deserving winners for their achievements.”

2015 Award Winners

Last year’s Bed Show Awards and gala dinner was another night to remember, filled with celebrations. Those who took home a well-deserved accolade included:

Harrison Spinks for Bed Manufacturer of the Year. Commenting on how the award win has positively affected their business, md Simon Spinks said: “We’re constantly innovating and developing our products to ensure we provide the best beds available; so to be recognised by the NBF and its members as Bed Manufacturer of the Year is testament to all the hard work put in by everyone at Harrison Spinks.

“Since the award win, we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for our beds; as a result we are investing and expanding our manufacturing capacity to ensure we keep up with this demand.”

Scooping the Bed E-tailer accolade was Rotherham based Mattress Online. Director Steve Adams said: “Winning this prestigious accolade has further established our company as the leading online mattress and bed retailer. It has significantly improved our revenue and conversions and, most importantly, gives our customers the confidence to buy with us - and keep coming back!”

Using the win to shout about its business success, Rebecca Maloy, bed buyer at Furniture Village – Multiple Bed Retailer of the Year 2015 and 2014, said: “The thing I am most proud of as the bed buyer for Furniture Village is the fact we are now firmly on the map as a bed retailer. Winning the NBF’s Multiple Bed Retailer of the Year award for two years running has really allowed us to shout about this, increasing consumer awareness around the fact that we don’t just sell beds, but that that we are experts in selling beds.”

Also basking in awards glory was John Cotton which won the Bed Component Supplier category and Newbridge Street Bedding Centre which took home the Independent Bed Retailer of the Year trophy.
