Two store independent retail business Cookes Furniture has confirmed it plans to host a second event to raise money for a local cancer charity.

The event takes place at Cookes in-store Edward’s Restaurant on 3 December 2016 and has already sold out, with the company hoping to raise more than £1,300 for the Sutton Coldfield-based Breast Friends charity.

This will be the second time since September Cookes has hosted such a charity event, with the first time generating £1,300 in donations. Customers will be able to enjoy afternoon tea with a complimentary glass of mulled wine and Christmas Carols from the Sutton Coldfield Chamber Choir.

Vanessa Hoe, marketing director at Cookes Furniture, said: “We are delighted to be hosting another charity afternoon tea for Breast Friends. We are aiming to donate more than the £1,300 - the amount we raised at our last event for them.

‘’Although the event is sold out there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved and support Breast Friends. We will be holding a raffle on the Saturday but you can also support them by donating to their Just Giving Page. We look forward to another highly memorable occasion and are delighted to continue supporting Breast Friends in 2017.’’

Breast Friends is a support group based at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and is run by volunteers who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Cookes was established in 1946 and continues to operate its two stores in Erdington, near Birmingham, and Christchurch, Dorset.
