Danish home furnishings and accessories retail chain Søstrene Grene has announced that it will open its first store in Cork.
The company confirmed that its debut store in Cork, which is scheduled to open on 11 November 2016, will be located on Patrick’s Street and will be the businesses fourth location in the Republic of Ireland, adding to its existing stores in Athlone and two in Dublin.
The news follows its recent opening of its first store in Northern Ireland, in Belfast and forms part of the company’s planned expansion, with a further five stores still to be launched but with details remaining firmly under wraps in Northern Ireland.
The move also follows Søstrene Grene recent UK debut store opening in Nottingham, which agreed a 10 year lease for its 4,275sq ft showroom on Victoria Street.
The four-storey property in Patrick Street provides total accommodation of 8,200sq ft with a large prominent ground floor, and Mikkel Grene, CEO and co-owner of Søstrene Grene, is confident that this location in Cork is just right for Søstrene Grene: “Naturally, we cannot know exactly how this new shop will fare, but our Irish customers have previously shown a great appreciation for our concept. We are very optimistic and hope for a similar response in Cork.”
Søstrene Grene, which translates to Sisters Grene, was established in 1973 by founders Anna and Clara Grene and has over 100 stores across Europe, mainly in Scandinavia, with its headquarters based in Aarhus.
