Japanese department store chain MUJI has confirmed it will be hosting a London event to celebrate 25 years in Europe.
To mark the anniversary, MUJI plans to host a commemorative exhibition of archival MUJI posters in Covent Garden from 18-23 October, as well as a 10-day promotional event at its Liberty London store from 21-31 October 2016.
MUJI commissioned Tokyo-based British artist Andrew Joyce to illustrate the 25 most iconic MUJI products on collectible postcards, with the series to be installed across 10 stores in London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, Munich, Barcelona and Lisbon.
MUJI stated that the ‘installation acts as a historical mood board, which encourages visitors to each store to leave with their own piece of MUJI history’.
Founded in Japan in 1980, MUJI currently has twelve department stores throughout the UK, with nine based in London and the remaining three in Birmingham, Guildford and Manchester.
