Northumberland based Dickinsons Furnishers, part of the Dickinsons Group, has confirmed the acquisition of Gosforth-based New England Interiors for an undisclosed sum.

The deal sees Dickinsons expand into new territory, with Gosforth seen as a key part of its geographical growth of the group, which also has further plans for investment and growth.

John Spreadbury, managing director, Dickinsons Group, said: “We are delighted to announce the purchase of New England Interiors in Gosforth. This is a strategic acquisition for us and very much part of our plans for future growth.

“The Dickinsons Group has enjoyed some significant growth in the past few years and we are looking to build on this success going forward and have some exciting plans to widen our retail and trade operations which we will be announcing shortly.”

Tace Traviss, commercial director, added: “New England is a perfect fit for us. We have recently extended our retail offering and have some exciting plans to strengthen our customer service and product range. We recently re-branded our retail and delivery operations and we will be refurbishing the New England store shortly.

“We will be keeping all the current staff at the store and very much looking forward to growing our awareness in the Gosforth area and further afield.”

Advised by leading North East law firm Muckle LLP, the Dickinsons group has a turnover of £8.22m and employs 70 people from its four retail stores across the North East and Cumbria.
