Furniture retailer Dwell has confirmed that it plans to open a new distribution centre in Milton Keynes.
The new 151,000sq ft facility has been leased to Dwell by logistics real estate firm Prologis for the site at Prologis Park Marston Gate, with a set launch target for early 2017.
Dwell, which was acquired by sofa specialist DFS back in 2014, has also confirmed it will open four new stores this month, bringing its total portfolio to 25 across the UK.
Marcin Twardysko, head of distribution, Dwell, said: “The building will serve as the national distribution centre for Dwell. Marston Gate is in an ideal location for our logistics network, and the unit has the flexibility to accommodate Dwell’s continuing growth. We are delighted to have secured it.”
Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK, said: “We decided to extend Prologis Park Marston Gate because we believe it offers one of the best opportunities for logistics operators on the M1 corridor,” said. We already have detailed planning permission for the site, so we can deliver Dwell’s new distribution centre to meet the company’s operational deadline.”
The new stores planned for opening include locations in Leicester, launching on 15 October, Birmingham and Edinburgh, both launching on 22 October, and finally in Nottingham, scheduled for opening on 29 October 2016.
