Heritage retailer Woods Furniture has announced that it plans to donate 2% of its turnover generated from a pre-Christmas sale event to local charities.
Running from 14-21 November 2016, the Woods Furniture week-long pre-Christmas sale will take place at its premier Dorchester store, with selected charities including Julia’s House and Mosaic-Supporting Bereaved Children to benefit from the proceeds.
Hamish McGhee, managing director of Woods Furniture, said: “Our pre-Christmas sale is a really special week. It’s our way of thanking our customers and giving something back to the community. We feel very strongly about our two nominated charities who both do amazing and much-needed work locally.
“We hope to make our customers happy and add to their Christmas spirit in the knowledge that their purchase will not only enhance their home and bring them pleasure but will also be contributing to these incredible organisations.”
During the event, Woods Furniture, which has been established since 1875, plans to offer discounts on a selection of brands including Neptune and ercol.
Martin Edwards, chief executive of Julia’s House commented: “We greatly appreciate the generous support of Woods Furniture and their customers. Their gift will help us to continue giving the very specialist help that families need when faced with the round-the-clock physical and emotional demands of caring for a child with a life-limiting condition.”
Margaret Hannibal MBE, CEO of Mosaic added: “We support bereaved children, young people and their families who are finding it difficult to understand the overwhelming feelings the death of a loved one can bring. This wonderful support from Woods Furniture will enable us to provide them with individual counselling and the opportunity to meet other young people who share their experience.”
