Norfolk department store retailer Jarrold & Sons has reported a third successive rise in turnover, as sales surpassed the £30m mark for the first time since 2007.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 January 2016, total sales grew by 4.1% to £30.6m from £29.4m in 2015, whilst gross profit also experienced an uptick of 5.7% to £7.4m.

During the year under review, the company said that its retail division delivered a strong performance following a refurbishment project at its Norwich Department Store, as well as continued investment within its online platform including an increased product range and the functionality of the website.

The family-owned business, which was founded in 1770, posted a pre-tax profit of £7.6m, with an end of year cash balance of £4.6m.

Jarrold’s has eight stores within its portfolio around Norwich and Norfolk including its home and living store, The Granary on Bedford Street, which opened back in September 2012.
