Fitted furniture and beds drive Home sales in latest figures from John Lewis, as the retailer enjoys a ‘strong’ week.

According to its latest weekly sales figures to 8 October 2016, total sales grew by 11.5% at £89.9m, with all three of its categories delivering growth.

Within its Home sector, sales rose by 5.2% on the year as furniture continued to perform well, particularly in Fitted Furniture – up by 29.1% and beds, also registering a double-digit growth by 17.3%. Cook and Dine saw sales grow by 6.7%.

In the other categories, Fashion and Electrical & Home Technology both deliver positive growth, up by 14.6% and 16.1% respectively.

Maggie Porteous, director, shop trade, said: “John Lewis enjoyed a strong trading week, with good performances across all three directorates as customers embraced our Autumn Winter collections.

“John Lewis Chelmsford’s first full week of sales were strong, supported by a good performance in Fashion product areas.”
