Independent retailer Furniture Village looks set to open a new store in Hull after submitting a planning application.
According to plans submitted to Hull City Council, Furniture Village will take the space from Next Home due to the retailer opening its new £12m flagship store in Kingswood, which is scheduled to open on 16 November.
The new store will be based on the St Andrew’s Quay Retail Park in Hull, which features another furniture retailer including Sofaworks.
Furniture Village, which currently has 50 stores across the UK, recently opened a new shop in Preston last month, and confirmed to Cabinet Maker earlier this month that it plans to open six new stores, with Hull possibly its next likely location.
However, no further comment has been made with regards to the Hull plans as the council reviews the application, with an opening date yet to be decided.
Furniture Village recently announced a growth in its latest results for the year ended 27 March 2016, with total sales up by 12.4% to £265m and delivering a like-for-like growth of 10% on last year.
