Swedish furniture giant IKEA has confirmed that a man has died at its Reading site.
Following a workplace incident at around 2:30am this morning, being 19 October 2016, at its Pincents Lane location, a man has sadly passed away.
Emergency services, including the Thames Valley Police, attended the scene and confirmed that no arrests had been made and that an investigation is currently underway to identify the cause of death.
IKEA UK and Ireland told Cabinet Maker that the store would remain closed while police carry out its investigation.
Javier Quinones, deputy retail manager, IKEA UK and Ireland said: “We are very saddened to confirm that this morning, 19 October, a contractor died in an incident on our site in Reading.
“The safety and security of everyone on our premises is always our highest priority and we are now supporting the Thames Valley Police with their investigation.
“The store will remain closed until further notice. Our thoughts are with the individual’s family at this time.”
