Swedish furniture giant IKEA has announced the launch of its new website following a successful pilot with its Irish platform.
Initially established back in September 2015, IKEA launched a new design format for its online presence, and has now confirmed its UK site has followed suit, going live from 13 September 2016.
The website has been completely redesigned, which features a new fully responsive system, meaning that the website adapts and works consistently across different devices from smartphone phones to tablets or laptops.
Following the success of its Ireland website, its UK site, www.ikea.com/gb/en/, becomes a second pilot project as the firm plans to extend its new design concept across its global sites.
An IKEA spokesperson said: “In September 2015, IKEA Ireland piloted a new website design. We can now confirm that we are now extending the pilot to the UK from September 13th 2016. The development of our website will support in our direction of creating a seamless shopping experience from the digital through to the physical meeting with our customers.
“During the pilot in Ireland we gained a lot of useful insights from our customers and co-workers that we have taken into the development of the website. We will now launch the new website for customers in the UK including the possibility to shop online. The extended pilot will allow us to finalise the development so that we are ready to roll out globally in the near future.”
