Independent retailer Furniture Choice has revealed it plans to hold another Black Friday event, following last year’s success.
Based in Mirfield, Furniture Choice told Cabinet Maker that 2015 saw a huge increase in traffic which resulted in a sales boost of 40%, compared to only a 19% uplift in sales the following week after Black Friday.
Due to its success, Furniture Choice confirmed plans are afoot into this year’s event, which has seen its sales pattern for the period change in recent years.
Tom Obbard, Furniture Choice director, explains: “In 2015, we were prepared for an increase in traffic but didn’t expect to see a spike on such a big scale. Traditionally, furniture is a considered purchase, not something you would buy on impulse just because of a sale.
“That said, we’ve learned from previous years that the whole buzz around Black Friday is enough to drive people to site. Once people are in the buying frame of mind, it’s important for us to have substantial discounts available to encourage as many conversions as possible.
“Before Black Friday came to Britain, the peak week for trading was the first week of December. Now, since the arrival of Black Friday, the sales pattern has changed; bringing customer orders forward and making last minute shopping a thing of the past.”
