Collingwood Batchellor ‘your home’ rebrand
Independent furniture retailer Collingwood Batchellor has reported a growth in both sales and profits in its latest filed accounts for the period ended 31 January 2016.
Despite a slow down in the economic climate, Collingwood posted an overall turnover of £10.1m, up by 8.1% on last year’s figure of £7.8m, with gross profit increasing by 26.3% to £4.8m from £3.8m in 2015.
During the period under review the trade and assets of HG Scadgell Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary, was merged within the company, with the increase in sales reflecting the company as a whole.
Collingwood saw pre-tax profits grow by 18.4% to £776,459 from £655,363 in 2015, whilst end of year cash resulted in £1.8m.
Within the current year, Collingwood Batchellor confirmed the acquisition of fellow family business Rusdens back in June 2016, with the store now launched after pumping in around £50,000 investment.
The agreed deal, which remains undisclosed, sees Collingwood Batchellor expand its store portfolio to East Grinstead on London Road, as well as acquiring all the businesses assets including its name and website presence.
Alongside the takeover, Collingwood Batchellor also confirmed that it has rebranded all of its stores as ‘your home’ and with a ‘new modern colour scheme’, including a complete refurbishment of its flagship Horley store.
Guy Collingwood, joint director at Collingwood Batchellor, told Cabinet Maker: “The Rusdens takeover is now complete. We have refurbished and are now rebranded as Collingwood Batchellor. We are delighted with the early response from customers who seem to be really pleased that the store has continued. We look forward to many successful years trading in East Grinstead.
“Our iconic flagship store has just had a huge exterior refurb and reflects our new more modern colour scheme. We have since 1968 always been green and gold but we felt this colour was now too traditional and didn’t really reflect well on our new look interiors.”
Collingwood Batchellor has been established since 1968 and currently has other stores in Horsham, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Haslemere, Horley and Tunbridge Wells.
