Furniture and lighting retail sales in Ireland continued to grow, albeit at a slower rate in August.

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), furniture and lighting sales in both value and volume were up by 6.1% and 8.8% respectively in August, but slowed month-on-month from 13.2% and 11.2% in July.

Irish furniture and lighting sales in both value and volume compared to August 2015 were both up by 6.6% and 12.3% respectively.

Overall value of retail sales in Ireland grew by 2.9% on last year, although were down by 3.7% compared to July, whilst total volume of sales were also up compared to the same time last year by 5.2%, but suffered a decline of 4.7% on last month.
