Furniture continued its run of form for John Lewis as it marked the week with its latest store opening in Essex.
According to its latest weekly sales figures to 1 October 2016, total sales rose by 9.6% at £88m, with all its sectors delivering positive results.
Within the Home category, furniture sales grew by 9.5%, whilst lighting also had a strong week, with sales up by 12.6%, contributing to an overall uptick of 7%.
In the other categories, Fashion sales improved by 8.6%, whereas Electrical and Home Technology sales rose by 15.1% for the week.
The week saw John Lewis open its new department store in Chelmsford, which, according to the retailer, has had a ‘fantastic reception’ from customers in Essex.
