National retail chain John Lewis has announced the official launch of its new flagship store in Leeds.
As part of Hammerson’s £150m Victoria Gate Development, John Lewis has invested £37m in the new 255,000sq ft regional flagship store, as well as creating 550 new jobs, becomes one of the largest John Lewis locations outside of London.
During the first hour of opening, which took place on 20 October 2016, John Lewis said it saw over 2,500 people enter its doors to see its full product assortment across fashion, beauty, home and technology ranges.
Maggie Porteous, director shop trade at John Lewis, commented on the opening: “John Lewis Leeds is our most service led shop to date, as we look to offer our customers experiences that cannot be replicated online.
“The shop brings all of our best products and services under one roof, and we’re really very excited to be able to open our doors to the shoppers of Leeds today.”
