A well-known furniture industry figure Ron Rawlings has sadly passed away.

Following service in the Parachute Regiment, Ron joined Vineys of Abingdon and eventually became managing director of their two shops.

Ron was also a member of the old Green Group furniture group, and following its demise, joined the newly formed Minerva Furnishers Guild, founded by Derek Hayes of TR Hayes in Bath.

Although Ron was only six months shy of his retirement when he took on the role of merchandise and marketing manager in 1990, he stayed for 12 years.

In the early days of Minerva’s existence Ron was extremely supportive and energetic in helping establish the group; working closely with the founder directors and early members, and his involvement helped contribute to the success of the organisation.

Although Roy Beagent took over his role when Ron finally retired, he remained in touch with Minerva and especially some of the more long-standing members.

Derek and the Minerva members would like to extend their deepest sympathies to Ron’s wife Bridget, and to his family.

The funeral will be held at the South Oxfordshire Crematorium in Garford on 14 September 2016 at 12noon.
