North Norfolk-based business C.T. Baker Limited has posted a continued growth in turnover, although suffering a decline in sales within its retail arm.

The company, which dissects into three sectors including a department store under the name Bakers and Larners in Holt, a builders’ merchant and two Budgens supermarkets, reported total sales of £23.1m for the year ended 29 February 2016, slightly up by 0.4% from £23m in 2015.

Despite the rise in sales – largely due to its Builders Merchants sector as sales grew 8.9% to £6.1m, its retail business experienced a fall in revenue by 2.3% to £16.9m from £17.3m last year. Overall pre-profit for the year resulted in £817,637.

Highlighted within its filed report, the company indicated that continued investment helped drive sales, whilst also confirming that it has continued its planned refurbishment programme in Bakers and Larners, as well as investing in a new IT system.
