Len Snell has retired after 50 years

Independent retailer W. Cross & Co Ltd, House Furnishers in Newton Abbot has announced that one of its long serving employees has decided to retire after 50 years.

Len Snell, who began working with the company back in 1964 as a 16 year old, has been a core element to the businesses success within its logistics department.

Now at the age of 68 Len has decided to park the van for a final time, in which it is estimated that he has driven more than half a million miles for company spanning five decades.

Commenting on his retirement, director Richard Paddon said: “In the early days he was the ‘van boy’ and when working on the removals because there was no room in the cab, he would have to ride in the back in among the furniture. Health and Safety would not be impressed these days.

“The company has always sought to go that extra mile and Len has always been an excellent employee in this respect. On numerous occasions customers have commented on his willingness and smiling disposition and the company are grateful to him for helping to keep customers satisfied. Here’s to a well deserved retirement.”
