Family owned retail business Stokers has reported a fourth successive rise in turnover, as sales surpass the £40m milestone for the first time.
According to recently filed accounts for Stokers Holdings Limited to the year ended 30 April 2016, total sales rose by 21% to £42.7m from £35.3m in 2015, whilst pre-tax profits swelled to £3m, up by 19% from £2.5m last year.
The group, which consists of Stokers Limited, JP Lucas & Co Limited and Youngs Furnishers Limited, indicated that end of year cash remained at £4.1m, whilst also confirming that it had repaid £750,000 off its bank borrowings, reducing the total to £2.7m.
During the period the group confirmed the acquisition of Rowena Lucas Holdings Limited, whilst also investing in regular store refurbishments and the training of staff.
Heritage retailer Stokers has been established for more than 120 years with stores in Chester, Ormskirk and Southport, as well as in Aylesbury under Lucas Furniture, which was acquired last year.
