Independent furniture retailer Taskers has reached its 120th anniversary in business.
The Accrington-based family firm celebrated the milestone with a special broadcast with BBC Radio Lancashire at its premises on Queens Road.
The achievement follows Taskers recent major refurbishment of its landmark Accrington brick built former mill site, with the company revealing that more than £2m has been invested into the business over the last decade.
Founded in 1896, Taskers has dedicated a special space of its history on its website, www.taskers.com, as it continues to celebrate 120 years in the trade.
Commenting as part of the milestone, managing director Ivor Lefton, who became the first non-family company board member in 2001, said: “To survive in retail as an independent family business for so long takes tremendous skill and forward planning and we continue to build on the pioneering entrepreneurship of past members of the Taskers family.
“Taskers benefits from great customer loyalty but this is because of its traditional family values based on service, support and going that extra mile, and on our loyal and knowledgeable team of around 40 staff.”
